The future of power is all about connectivity to smart energy controllers and the Smart Grid. A prerequisite for that to happen is for power supplies to be able to communicate and that requires more sophisticated processors inside power supplies. GPP’s approach is a novel architecture where a single controller can be rapidly adapted to meet the requirements of many different power supply topologies including QRC, LLC, Half Bridge, Full-bridge and more. It offers the potential to utilize programming and high performance computing power to develop new ways of delivering power. High switching frequencies for GaN devices, for example, may be ideal candidates for superior control algorithms possible with the GPP.
